Winsun Global will print the office layer by layer using a 3d printer that measures 20 ft in height, the same 3d printer which they used to 3D print a 6 story apartment building in Shanghai last year.

The 3D printed office building will cover over 2,000 sq feet, and will only take weeks to complete its construction. The office building will stand as a temporary headquarter to Dubai’s Museum of the Future, which was launched earlier this year.

3D PRINTED PROSTHETIC FROM OPEN BIONICS https://3dcopysystems.com/3d-printed-prosthetic-from-open-bionics/ https://3dcopysystems.com/3d-printed-prosthetic-from-open-bionics/#respond Thu, 19 May 2016 07:39:09 +0000 http://3dcopysystems.com/?p=378 3D printing has already ushered in a new era of low-cost prosthetics. In addition to yielding custom limbs that are orders of magnitude less expensive than their traditionally manufactured counterparts, 3D printing is giving prostheses wearers the ability to express their identities like never before (see yesterday’s post on Alex Pring’s Iron Man-themed arm).

Faster Than a Ferrari and It Was 3D Printed? https://3dcopysystems.com/faster-than-a-ferrari-and-it-was-3d-printed/ https://3dcopysystems.com/faster-than-a-ferrari-and-it-was-3d-printed/#respond Thu, 19 May 2016 07:27:30 +0000 http://3dcopysystems.com/?p=361 You’re looking at the world’s first 3D printed supercar, Blade. That’s right, the beautiful car in the photo above has a chassis that’s made up entirely of 3D printed aluminum nodes and carbon fiber connectors. The term supercar is no gimmick either. Weighing a mere 1,388lbs, this beast pumps out a whopping 700hp and 500lb-ft

Klaxons’s 3D Printed Tour Kicks Off, But It Could Be Their Last https://3dcopysystems.com/klaxonss-3d-printed-tour-kicks-off-but-it-could-be-their-last/ https://3dcopysystems.com/klaxonss-3d-printed-tour-kicks-off-but-it-could-be-their-last/#respond Thu, 19 May 2016 07:02:52 +0000 http://3dcopysystems.com/?p=335 British new rave band Klaxons kicked off their long-awaited 3D printed tour last weekend in Norwich. This year’s June, they already made a statement about this 3D printed tour, and now the 3D printed instruments are ready to rock. The University of Sheffield’s news department, however, reports that they solely got their guitars printed, and not the other instruments.

3D Printed Ashtray Preserves Cigars Automatically https://3dcopysystems.com/3d-printing-in-producing-furniture/ https://3dcopysystems.com/3d-printing-in-producing-furniture/#respond Fri, 13 May 2016 03:26:25 +0000 http://3dcopysystems.com/?p=262 J-CAD Inc. has created a 3D printed Ashtray which automatically extinguishes and preserves unfinished cigars. The product was developed by a cigar enthusiast named Ray, who contacted J-CAD Inc., a company that specializes in 3D CAD design and drafting to create a simple design for the automatic cigar ashtray. With the help of J-CAD, Ray completed the prototype of a unique creation, which activates a set of blades inside to cut off oxygen supply that fuels the burn, and preserve left over cigar.

“Sensibus oportere signiferumque id mea. At usu lucilius phaedrum, vix oratio epicurei ne. Eripuit conceptam sea cu, ius minim delectus euripidis cu. Probo nonumy gubergren id nec. In est probo ridens, his laoreet euripidis et.”

The prototype was printed with a UV-cured acrylic on a 3D Systems project 3000 3D printer, 3Dprint.com reported. It took around 20 hours to print the whole device, and another 2 hours to remove paint, support material and to assemble it.

3dprinting-history

Ray stated, “A premium cigar can sometimes take an hour or more to smoke, but many times a person doesn’t have time to finish a cigar. I was looking for a portable cigar ashtray that would extinguish a partially smoked cigar while keeping the wrapper intact. All the portable ashtrays I found were lacking in the characteristics I was looking for.”

Jason Vander Griendt of J-CAD said in an interview, “We were contacted by [Ray] who was very passionate about cigars. In the midst of the Cuban – USA relations improving in 2014, he wanted us to design a device that could be used as a cigar ashtray with some added design benefits as he predicted an immediate increase in the Cuban cigar industry in the USA.”

IR3 3D Printer That Can Integrate Non-printable Components https://3dcopysystems.com/video-format/ https://3dcopysystems.com/video-format/#respond Thu, 12 May 2016 01:38:08 +0000 http://3dcopysystems.com/?p=47

Buzz Technology Limited’s 3D printer design is based on standard FDM technology but it can also reach for parts from a tray and integrate non-printable components into a 3D printed object.

The components can include electronic modules, wheels, electric motor power drives, cameras, sensors, remote control and all kinds of stuff so that at the end of the production process you could get a working 3d printed device. They have demonstrated it on a toy car where the frame was 3D printed with different filaments and then the powered wheels modules placed in it.

3dprinting-historyThis is a a new approach in commercial machine but many questions remain open. It would be interesting to see what type of software drives it and what is the g-code behind magnetic embedding arm or how does one program what part to take out of the tray and where to place it.

Modeling everything and getting it to work seems like a very complex endeavor for a skilled CAD operator or designer but the idea behind it is to use some sort of manual g-code adjustments that will be learned in company webinars. The wiring of the parts is also not shown in detail so the parts are highly likely stand-alone modules but there are three nozzles that can, in theory,  extrude plastic, conductive and support / separation materials so electrical connections could be made with some sort of conductive material.

This 3D Printed Drone Can Clean Your House https://3dcopysystems.com/gallery-format/ https://3dcopysystems.com/gallery-format/#respond Thu, 12 May 2016 01:36:26 +0000 http://3dcopysystems.com/?p=43
We automatically tend to link the concept of ‘drones’ with controversial war stories, but a Belgian team proves that this technique could also be used differently. Meet AirButlr, a 3D printed drone that is expected to be able to clean your house. A team is still working on the machine, but it will one day be capable of detecting dirt and using several cleaning materials to clean up the dirty places in your house. In other words: in the 21st century we don’t need the work of humans to make our cleaning work happen.

3dprinting-history

The machine will detect dirt, because it works with advanced sensors, batteries and motors as well as it will be using algorithms and high-level detection to make it happen. It will also be possible to operate the AirButlr yourself,  by using a smartphone application. This will enable users to command the AirButlr, after which the machine will clean up the place with the right cleaning materials. Interesting development, we’re curious whether this will become a big hit on Kickstarter or not. It could easily become something huge. Well, watch this video below to see how it will work

EU Works on Food Printer to Create Personalized Meals for the Elderly https://3dcopysystems.com/quote-format-post/ https://3dcopysystems.com/quote-format-post/#respond Thu, 12 May 2016 01:31:58 +0000 http://3dcopysystems.com/?p=42

Recently Natural Machines made the news with more detailed specifications about their long-expected healthy food printer, which will be released later on this year. The news was remarkable, as food printing today mainly refers to producing less healthy products, such as chocolates, sweets andspace pizzas. Now, only two weeks later, another party is trying the healthier side of food printing. And not just some party, because it’s the European Union, working on a food printer to prepare personalized meals for the elder

This project regards to an older target group, as in 2025 one in five citizens in the EU will be 65-years-old and over. The general problem with this group is that a lot of them will undergo difficulties swallowing their food. This condition is called dysphagia and studies show that today 15 to 25 percent of all people over 50 years suffer from such a condition. The problem however is that the same group has a higher risk of getting sick in some way, which often requires specialized diets. If someone can’t swallow properly, then that surely is a problem.

Of course there are pureed foods to provide for nutritious meals, without having to face the difficulties of swallowing larger pieces. However, as the team behind the EU project points out, such pureed meals can be unappealing and unappetizing to the elderly, leading to a reduced quality of life. Moreover, an NCBI study shows that one-third of the people with dysphagia even avoid eating with others, because of their disease.
